Care & Washing
DMC Color Variations is 100% colorfast and can be washed in warm water 60° C/140° F. Particular attention should be paid to the fabric on which the thread was embroidered. Wash your embroidery with one teaspoon of mild soap such as Orvus. After washing, gently wring it out and rinse it as many times as necessary to get the soap out of it (until the water is clear). Use almost cold water to rinse the piece. Wrap the embroidery in a towel to remove excess water, then dry flat. Place the embroidery on a clean towel, preferably while still damp, and iron on the reverse side, at the temperature setting recommended for the fabric.

Color Variations is an overdyed multi colored thread that creates subtle variations in color without having to change your threads. Available in both embroidery floss and Pearl Cotton 5, they stitch just like their counterparts but add the surprise of color variations within each length of thread.
For counted cross stitch designs there are two ways to form your stitches:
- One Cross Stitch at a time: by completing each stitch individually, Color Variations will distinctly graduate into the thread's next color. This method gives you more control over the placement of the variation in the thread.
- Standard Method: (stitching a row of half cross stitches in a row from left to right completing each stitch on the return) Threads stitch using this method will create a “tweeded” or blended look of softly mixed colors when completed.
If your Color Variations threads become twisted while stitching, simply drop the needle and allow the threads to unwind itself.
To assure you get the best results, take your time. By stitching slowly, you’ll have better control over the placement and laying of your stitches.
